In 1995 Dr. John created 10 paintings that are tales about making choices that are mentally freeing or enslaving. They are an outgrowth of the Red Book and Cotton book and his experiences. Each painting contains a red book and some form of cotton, and both are a message about making choices that produce either beneficial or self- damaging results. Every choice--good or bad, right or wrong--produces lasting or temporary effects on ones life: circumstances, situations, and conditions. The Red Book, the cotton, and their colors are symbols of: the effects that come from making everyday choices and the subsequent effects. The book and its content symbolizes: life promoting information, which can be turned into knowledge--potential power that can bring good into ones life via determination, hard work, persistence, and good intent. Its red color represents: blood-movement, vitality, energy, and life. Its white color represents: negative and limiting sterile-concepts-beliefs and thoughts, and ways and means that are devoid of life-promoting health. Choosing cotton-beliefs means: making choices that keep one stuck in the past, which entangles one in avoidable-suffering. Choosing red book-beliefs means: making choices that empower one to overcome inherited enslaving-limitations; opening the mind to embrace true freedom--transformational-growth and spiritual-enlightenment; living a life that positively affects the human race for good. |
