About The Book
Book Summary

Red Book and Cotton shares a channeled diary of an African American slave in the period before and after the Civil War.  The book is based on a true story that Dr. John Sandridge began writing in the spring of 1992 and completed 17 years later in 2009.  It is the compilation of oral-history, tape recordings, notes, letters, books and channeled dictation from Dr. John Sandridge's deceased great-great-grandfather Nimrod. It is similar to Alex Haley's Roots; Bill Moyer's and Dr. Carl Young's Archetypes; Mark Twain's in-depth look at SLAVERY/RACE RELATIONSHIPS.

Nimrod was owned by Dr. Sandridge and his wife, the author's great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Sandridge. Dr. Sandridge's mother secretly teaches Nimrod to read and write. His is visited by Papa-horse-a ghostly nymph-like figure-who teaches him, via stories, to tame his raging-anger, self-destructive hate, and denied-racism/prejudice. His desire is to have the two freedoms Papa-horse repeatedly teaches. But he must first learn to make right choices and love his enemies-wealthy whites, law makers, and slave owners. He works with Dr. Sandridge, who is sickly/sterile, and Mrs. Sandridge who discovers she is pregnant-by him, Nimrod-the day her husband dies. They are forced to send their baby from Decherd, TN to her brothers in Langston, Alabama. Nimrod has three wishes: 1) gain the two freedoms, 2)meet their grown child, and 3) witness the prophecy that blacks and whites will reconcile differences when America has a president of mixed-blood.
